How, When, And Why IVGID Acquired Aspen Grove and The Village Green
As elsewhere explained, Crystal Bay Development Co. (“CBDC”) sold all of its remaining Incline Village properties but for the beaches to Boise Cascade Home & Land Corporation (“Boise Cascade”) on June 4, 1967. The minutes of the IVGID Board’s August 14, 1969 meeting reveal that for a good amount of time thereafter, Boise Cascade was proposing that Incline Village’s remaining open space (green belts) and fire roads be transferred to IVGID. The IVGID Board was reluctant to accept these lands because of the potential for liability and obligation for maintenance (fire breaks and fire roads). So the Board was pushing for compensation to make the District’s assumption of said lands fair. And that compensation was apparently the acquisition of an approximate five (5) acre parcel of land across the street from Incline Beach (adjacent to Lakeshore Blvd. and Incline Way) adjacent to sewerage pump station no. 5 (the minutes of the IVGID Board’s meeting evidence this parcel is what is known today as Aspen Grove), and the right to lease/purchase and have constructed thereon an administration building on Southwood Blvd.
And now you know!
